A little outfit inspiration from last year’s September shows: There is no need to leave the beach completely behind when arriving on the fashion week scene. On the first day of fashion week last year, one guest paired a beachy white dress with polished accessories.

Christina Perez at BCBG
Glamour‘s Christina Perez is one of the newest editors to make a sartorial splash at NY fashion week. At the BCBG show, she wore black and white with red Superga sneakers. Black skater skirts in silk or leather were a popular choice on guests at the shows.

The Glamourai‘s Kelly Framel wore great black and white star spangled pants and a black and white blouse to the BCBG show. Black and white is perfect for transitional times like the present as summer shifts into fall.

Virginia Smith in Black and White
And…. we’re off! The first full day of New York Fashion Week always has that first day of school feel to it. It’s good to see some familiar faces, like the ever-chic Virginia Smith of Vogue, who attended this morning’s BCBG Max Azria show dressed in black and white. Loved the monochromatic palette as transitional wear into fall and the animal print pants.

White Jeans and Plaid Coat, Outside BCBG
Garance Doré tweeted yesterday that her surprise winter staple has been white jeans. Indeed, if Michael Kors had anything to do with it, we would all wear white jeans all the time. Here they look great and springy with a colorful plaid coat and red bag, outside the BCBG show at Lincoln Center.

Opening Ceremony x Glamour Kitty Sweater, Outside BCBG
Welcome to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, aka New York Fashion Week! This adorable but chic kitty sweater was the centerpiece of one of my favorite outfits of Day One. It’s actually a collaboration between Glamour Magazine and Opening Ceremony, to be sold at Opening Ceremony on February 15th. Here it’s expertly mixed with a flowy white shirt dress, trench and bright red bag. As a cat person, I have been obsessed with it ever since OC previewed the design.
