Three Looks at Manhattan Vintage, April 2021
Tiffany Reid and Nicole Chapoteau at Hugo Boss FW2020
Loved the Italian colors on Tiffany Reid and Nicole Chapoteau in Milan. Look for more of these long leather or faux leather coats this spring – they’re so versatile and great in many types of weather.
Gloomy Day in Paris, February 2020
Sorry, Emily in Paris, but this is what true French-girl style looks like. It may seem thrown together, but the styling is great – an oversized wool trench with the belt cinched just so, the carefully arranged cross body bag, and shiny thick-soled leather boots, perfect for walking through the city on a blustery day.
Style Inspo: Anne Vyalitsyna at Ferragamo FW2020
Funny how fashionably prescient model Anne V’s February outfit was: it looks like a few chic pieces thrown on over plaid pajamas. The suede fringe jacket is the key.
Sweater Weather: Maria Bernad at Lanvin FW2020
Fall Feels: Daniela Zuccotti at Ferragamo FW2020
Rachel Sussman and Rachel Brosnahan at Prada FW2020
These two were just idling quietly by the curb, unnoticed by the mostly European crowd outside the Prada show, when I spotted them and quietly freaked out: Rachel Brosnahan and her BFF, producer Rachel Sussman. Having just streamed all of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it was all I could do to hold myself together. If you are missing fashion and/or New York City right now, Mrs. Maisel will give you a much-needed dose of glam.
Lynn Yaeger, Greenwich Village, June 2020
It was so great to run into my Greenwich Village neighbor Lynn Yaeger on 10th Street. As luck would have it, she was one of the last people I saw in New York City before I fled in mid-March. She and Michael Musto were strolling down University Place on a warm spring night, and I spotted her as I came out of the Knickerbocker Grill for what would be my last dine-in restaurant meal for God knows how long. Then she was one of the first people I saw on the street when I came back to the neighborhood.
As you can see, she is not sitting around in sweatpants, but maintaining the same level of style and fabulosity as in the Before Times. She cleverly repurposed a silk scarf as a mask, something we should all do with all those old scarves. Underneath, she is still wearing her signature lipstick. And no, she never fled the city. Now that’s a New Yorker.
WFH Fit: Easy Being Green, Outside Hellessy FW2020
Another great monochrome sweatshirt and sweatpants look – pretty and cozy.
WFH Fits: Clara Berry at Tod’s FW2020
A varsity-level WFH outfit with color, comfort and lots of style.
WFH Fits: Tiffany Hsu at Gabriela Hearst FW2020
Matchy-matchy is cool again, especially when it’s a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants! Tiffany Hsu dressed hers up with heels and a Bottega Veneta bag. While there’s no need to do that at home, the chunky necklace is key.
Spring Forward: Belted Coat, Outside Self-Portrait FW2020
A great look outside the Self-Portrait show in NYC. Belted coats are still going strong, and I’m really feeling this bright kelly green color for spring.
Flare Up: Red Dress and Valentino Bag at Milan Fashion Week SS2019
This was one of many logo’d bags seen this Fashion Month, and a new interpretation of the Valentino logo as conceived by the “kids” on Pierpaolo Piccioli’s design team. Look out for logo mania to take hold…
Street Scene, Outside Givenchy Couture FW2018
Back to school means back to fashion week for many of us. Next Thursday marks the start of New York fashion week, and the beginning of Fashion Month! Get ready… (and look for more dark wash denim like this if you’re in the doing some back-to-school shopping for yourself).
