Over the Rainbow
A micro-trend this resort season: rainbow! Particularly rainbow tie dye. I’m not sure what the explanation is for this one, but perhaps it can be chalked up to optimistic exuberance at the dawn of 2020. This trend has also been brightening up the dark streets of NYC.
(more…)The Best & Most Interesting Looks From Art Basel Miami 2019
Wow do I miss Miami right now. The sunshine, the art, the people, the music, the food – and here I am back in rainy NYC. But for a couple of days, we experienced some of the best this international art fair has to offer. First of all, it was impossible to capture ALL the great fashion going on here. The official Art Basel fair attracts over 70,000 visitors, and that’s not including everyone who attends the many auxiliary fairs going on in South Beach and Wynwood. There is A LOT going on during this art week in Miami.
It is a great place to get a handle on all the trends in resort wear, if you’re lucky enough to escape to someplace warm this winter. Ladylike pastels have given way to saturated colors, bold stripes, graphic prints, and contrasting florals. Then there’s the whole what-do-I-wear-to-an-art-event question, which is a world in and of itself. Fashion is imitating art here and literally making a statement with language.
Here are some of the best & most interesting looks we saw at Art Basel proper, Untitled, Scope, the South Beach boardwalk, and in the Wynwood Arts District. (more…)
