Anna Wintour in Prada
Anna Wintour wore head to toe Prada to the Carven show in Paris. The Prada fall 2012 collection, both the blacks and the graphic prints, has been a big favorite of editors here. It’s already being knocked off by certain chain stores, but there’s no substitute for the original.
Anna Wintour at Donna Karan
Anna Wintour wore a beautiful white floral print dress and statement necklace to Monday’s Donna Karan show, which received rave reviews.
Anna Wintour at Giorgio Armani
American Vogue was the most successful fashion magazine of 2011, increasing ad pages during a year when most magazines lost them. Because of its sheer size, it’s a big commitment to lug a copy of Vogue all the way from New York to Milan, but I did. Under Anna Wintour’s stewardship it’s still the thinking person’s fashion magazine, with wonderful essays and memoirs, not to mention Grace Coddington’s beautiful art direction.
The impeccably dressed Wintour is still the queen bee of fashion week. And street style photographers are overjoyed that, if she must travel with bodyguards, at least now they walk behind her. We can finally see what she’s wearing!
Anna Wintour in Plaid
Anna Wintour, entering the Lanvin show in painterly plaid. Love how her personal style is both classic and colorful.
Anna Wintour at Carven
Since Guillaume Henry took the reins as head designer at Carven last spring, this storied brand has gone through quite a renaissance. Top fashion editors including Anna Wintour attended the show yesterday in the Tuileries.
Wintour arrived gorgeously attired in a dress that combines modern textiles and technique with a flared ’50s skirt – look out for more of these come spring – and a jeweled choker. But most importantly, Wintour demonstrates how fashion can convey power. Even without the bodyguard at right, it would be easy to tell from the expert cut, luxury and colorful flamboyance of her clothes that she is the queen bee.
Anna Wintour, Outside Billy Reid
Anna Wintour arrived at Friday’s Billy Reid show in an aqua blue micro print dress, a prescient choice given that prints like these have been all over the runways for Spring 2012.
Anna Wintour at Theyskens' Theory, Valentine's Day
Anna Wintour arrived at Olivier Theyskens’ first show for Theory exquisitely attired in shades of red – for Valentine’s Day? With a beautifully tailored burgundy jacket, garnet flocked velvet coat and fuchsia wool skirt, she looked like she stepped out of the pages of Vogue.
Chloe SS2011
Chloe’s autumn/winter 2010 collection has already proved highly influential this fall with its wide-legged trousers and camel coats, so the spring/summer 2011 show was a must-see for many. The distinctive colors of Chloe’s fall line were on display on the guests in the Tuileries.

Oscar de la Renta
Though the plot lines of the show may be a little over-the-top, the tony, polished and sophisticated New York world of Gossip Girl does in fact exist. If you ever need proof, you need only go to an Oscar de la Renta show.
Models after the show. The models’ glam hair and the retro preppy looks on some of the younger guests reminded me of that seminal movie about the Upper East Side in the ’80s, Metropolitan. (more…)
Michael Kors
Michael Kors‘ popular appeal comes from more than just Project Runway: His clothes are both luxurious and wearable. Attendees at last week’s show included the usual set of editors and buyers plus deep-pocketed customers and the stylists who represent them.
Elle’s Kate Lanphear in a chic drop-waist, double-breasted gray coat, black sunglasses and an onyx ring. This is what’s so great about her style: it’s very personal. When everyone else is doing a cinched waist coat, she does a dropped-waist coat. (more…)
Marc Jacobs Show
Marc Jacobs has always been a master at creating fairy tales, so it seemed more than fitting that on the night of the Marc Jacobs show, snow began to fall as guests left the scene. The snow globe effect prolonged the magical feeling of the show itself, where “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from Frederick Sanchez’s soundtrack set the stage for a dreamy collection.
A tweed menswear-style double breasted coat and satchel bag echoed the relatively conservative (for Marc Jacobs) clothes in the fall 2010 collection. (more…)
Diane von Furstenberg
An American fashion maven and one of the originators of New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park, Diane von Furstenberg always draws a celebrity-laden and appreciative crowd to her shows. Guests arrived suitably glammed up for the occasion.
A white lace dress brings in the spring, but the black biker jacket and tights make this a great transitional look for the end (thank God) of winter. (more…)
Alexander Wang
A huge amount of buzz surrounded Saturday’s show by Alexander Wang, the fashion darling who’s built a multimillion-dollar clothing and accessories empire by the age of 25. A crowd of key fashion players came to the show, though the collection itself was disappointing compared to Wang’s previous seasons. The fabulous clothes on all the guests, however, were inspiration enough.

Calvin Klein Show SS10
It was high-octane glamour outside the Calvin Klein show at their showroom off Seventh Avenue on Thursday. A celebrity contingent including Eva Mendes, Molly Sims, Miranda Kerr, Rose Byrne and Kerry Washington arrived to take in the show. And the rest of the attendees didn’t look too shabby, either.

Oscar de la Renta Show SS10
The Oscar de la Renta show always sets the standard for uptown chic, and this season was no exception. The only thing lacking was the socialite contingent, which seemed diminished this time around. Let’s hope the uptown girls follow Anna Wintour’s Fashion’s Night Out initiative and accept that there is no shame in shopping – especially if you’re supporting another critically acclaimed de la Renta collection.
This red dress and classic black heels was the most striking outfit coming in the door. It turned out to be especially appropriate given Oscar de la Renta’s spring line, which featured bright Latin colors. (more…)
