Shala Monroque and the Eiffel Tower
This was one of my favorite “food and fashion” moments of the last women’s RTW season – the ever-glamorous Shala Monroque of Garage Magazine eating a beignet in front of the Eiffel Tower. She had arrived early for one of the shows and was just taking in the view. The vintage rabbit bag is a nod to her blog, Shala’s Rabbit Hole.
Shiona Turini at Nina Ricci
Cosmopolitan’s fashion market editor and native Bermudian Shiona Turini is perhaps the most fashionable woman to emerge from Bermuda, well, ever. If you have ever whiled away a rainy summer afternoon rummaging through shops on Front Street in search of something that is not pink and green or patterned like your grandma’s tea cozy, you have felt my pain. And yet, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Shiona turns up at fashion weeks around the world fabulously attired. She was already sporting the trendy Fendi keychain in September, clipped to a fabulous Louis Vuitton clutch.
Linda Fargo at Carven
I’m always thinking of Linda Fargo at this time of year because of the fabulous Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows. Here she is looking great outside the Carven show in Paris. She told me the lips necklace is just a novelty item she picked up somewhere – it adds a little fun to an elegant black and white look.
Simone Marchetti at Dries van Noten
Men’s accessories are a huge growth area in retail right now, and no wonder when men like La Repubblica‘s Simone Marchetti wear them so well. The pink polka dot scarf is Valentino.
Embellished Sweatshirt Dress, Outside 3.1 Phillip Lim
The lowly sweatshirt is getting embellished with jewels this fall. In this particularly pretty version, it’s a sweatshirt dress dripping with delicate crystals in faux-diamand and topaz form. Also note how she has smartly styled it with a crisp white button down underneath.
Valentino Coat, Chanel Bag and Jeans, Outside Valentino
This is the kind of high-low mix that stylists and editors love: a très chic (and expensive) Valentino coat and Chanel matriochka bag worn with a down-to-earth pair of ripped boyfriend jeans. Even if you can’t throw on your best Valentino and Chanel, you can take a cue from this girl: this fall’s shredded boyfriend jeans are best worn cuffed with heels, especially if you’re petite.
Ulyana Sergeenko at Valentino SS2014
Designer Ulyana Sergeenko wore a beautiful blue dress of her own design to the Valentino show in Paris, combining it with a gray sweater underneath. A great mix. Detail shot after the jump. (more…)
Pharrell Williams at Comme des Garcons
I have to say I had no idea Pharrell Williams was so well dressed in “real life.” This is such a great mix of the patchwork coat, tee, necklaces, cuffed jeans, leopard print pony skin skater shoes, and just a glimpse of a black and white polka dot cardigan underneath. The fedora is not only elegant but perfect for a drizzly afternoon in Paris.
Anna Wintour at Ralph Lauren
Anna Wintour wore some beautiful print dresses during NY fashion week, but I have to say I love her in Chanel. At yesterday’s Ralph Lauren show, she mixed a black and white, pink-flecked Chanel suit with a plain white tee – very daring for her! – and a gorgeous Georgian collet necklace.
Giovanna Battaglia at Thakoon
Giovanna Battaglia has been looking fabulous throughout New York fashion week. This black and white look is crisp, chic and just a little bit playful.
Miroslava Duma at Victoria Beckham
Miroslava Duma arrived at the Victoria Beckham show in a crisp belted yellow leopard tank and blue pants perfect for the variable September weather we’ve been having in NYC.
OK, Glass: Nina Garcia at Alexander Wang
This is happening: Editors are wearing Google Glass to the shows during New York Fashion Week. The glasses were probably gifted from Google, but any concerns the fashion industry has about their actual style quotient have not kept editors like like Nina Garcia and Eva Chen are taking them to the streets. The glasses come in several different colors including yellow, but early adopters in the fashion world are going for the neutral gray shade. Mais bien sûr: it goes with black.
Sculptural Necklace and Black Dress, Outside Ulyana Sergeenko Couture
Black and white has traditionally been a popular choice during transitional months like September, when the weather’s still warm but the arrival of fall calls for darker colors. One guest at the Ulyana Sergeenko couture show in Paris worked the theme with a black dress, black and white sunglasses and amazing sculptural necklace.
