Susie Lau at Theyskens’ Theory
Surprisingly chic right now: all denim from head to toe. At the Theyskens’ Theory show in New York, Susie Lau of Style Bubble mixed different shades of blue denim, all from ASOS, and finished the look with Prada shoes.
Natalie Joos at Richard Chai Love
Yesterday on the first day Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (the first day of school!), Natalie Joos wore a beautiful and colorful oversize cardigan to the Richard Chai Love show. Great how the modern idea of pixellation is applied to an old-school medium like chunky knitwear. She balances it out with a muted bag and flared corduroys.
Ruby Aldridge, Outside Moschino
Model Ruby Aldridge combined retro high-waisted jeans with a vintage Leica camera outside the Moschino show.
Seventies Look, Outside Carlos Miele
Personally I’m loving the ’70s look for this fall. The wide legged jeans (J Brand, I believe) and floppy wide brimmed hat are so Love Story, conjuring up a romanticized collegiate vibe of years past.
70s Redux, Union Square
A cool ’70s redux look in Union Square complete with wide legged jeans, platform sandals and an afro to boot. Plus, the striped sailor bag is great for shopping the Greenmarket.
70s Jeans and PS1 Bag, Parsons Fashion Show
This outfit looks so sleek and classic you could almost forget it includes one of the trendier items of spring 2011, 70s wide legged, high-waisted jeans. In fact this is a great way to wear them: with design standards like Ray Ban Wayfarers, a white silk blouse and that other new classic: the Proenza Schouler PS1 bag in caramel leather.
Vintage 70s Jeans, NoLita
Love the highwaisted jeans on this model off duty in NoLita. She told me they’re vintage from the 70s. Highwaisted jeans can be hard to pull off, but they’re really cute paired with a black sheer top, long sweater and yellow bag – detail shot after the jump. (more…)
70s Jeans and Silk Button-Down, Outside Prabal Gurung
Here’s another example of ’70s jeans looking great in real life. Note how she keeps it from getting too hippie-dippy by wearing the jeans with a silk button-down blouse, tailored coat and structured bag. The loose topknot keeps it playful.
Nicole Phelps in 70s Jeans, Outside Chloe
Style.com fashion critic Nicole Phelps was one of the first to start sporting the wide-legged 70s jeans that are hitting stores now. She’s also proof that they look great. Here she mixes them with other themes from the runways, like the 70s redux shearling jacket, sailor stripes and a cool scarf printed with 16th-century tall ships.
