Mix and Match: Luis Borges and Raquel Strada at Lacoste SS2018
Two very sportif looks on Luis Borges and Raquel Strada in the Tuileries. Love this mustard color for spring.
In the Spring of Things: Pam Allier at Gucci FW2017
Pam Allier doubled down on bright colors, including cherry red pants, on a springlike day at the Gucci show.
Natasha Zinko at Elie Saab Couture FW2016
Natasha Zinko brought a pop of color to the Elie Saab couture show in Paris – and a ’70s look replete with purple glasses and blouse and yellow velvet pants. Expect more wild colors this fall as traditional autumn colors give way to the whole rainbow.
Christina Pitanguy at Stella McCartney SS2016
On the prowl: Christina Pitanguy in a tiger-stripe jacket at the Stella McCartney show in Paris.
Sofia Sanchez de Betak at Elie Saab Couture FW2015
Kind of obsessed with this retro look on Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea at the Elie Saab couture show this summer. The glasses! Also, after a few seasons of not seeing jeans because of overall skinny jean fatigue, denim may be back in a big way on the streets this fall, in a variety of cuts and washes. It’s that ’70s thing, as spurred on by the new Gucci collection.
Laure Heriard Dubreuil at Kanye West x Adidas
We’re seeing a distinctive ’70s influence in modern fashion, like this fur-trimmed, cropped jacket, pendant necklace and corduroys on the Webster’s Laure Heriard Dubreuil.
Wide Brim Fedora, Outside Gucci
Gucci’s increasingly pervasive influence in fashion is evident in the shape of this hat, which, though I think it’s Borsalino, not Gucci, echoes the FW2011 collection from the storied Italian house. Though Frida Giannini cited the ’70s as a major influence for that collection, I can’t help but see 1940s menswear in the wide brimmed fedora and the wide lapels on her tweed coat. Yet the whole effect is super feminine.
Virginia Smith at Viktor & Rolf
Vogue editor Virginia Smith has been rocking a key piece for fall 2011: wide-legged corduroys. Hers are by Theyskens’ Theory, worn simply with a black tee, black RayBan wayfarers and snakeskin clutch.
Seventies Look, Outside Carlos Miele
Personally I’m loving the ’70s look for this fall. The wide legged jeans (J Brand, I believe) and floppy wide brimmed hat are so Love Story, conjuring up a romanticized collegiate vibe of years past.
